ACRS response to GBRMPAs draft policy of fish aggregating devices and artificial reefs
The ACRS has recently drafted a response to GBRMPA’s draft policy on fish aggregating devices (FADs) and artificial reefs. In the linked response below, we give our thoughts on the use of these tools within the context of habitat degradation or fisheries management. The ACRS support the proposed policy to prohibit the use of FADs and artificial reefs on the GBR but stress the need for clear definitions of what may constitute as a FAD or artificial reef.
We would like to thank ACRS councillor Catheline Froehlich for writing, and the ACRS council for editing this reponse.
We encourage our members to read the full response – follow link below.
