The ACRS conference is typically held annually, except in the years where an International Coral Reef Symposium (ICRS) takes place. As a result,  there will be no ACRS conference in 2026. We look forward to returning in 2027 – stay tuned for updates!

ACRS at ICRS Auckland 2026

For anyone attending ICRS in Auckland (July 2026), come and find us at the ACRS table! We love chatting to our members and can help you sign up if you’d like you join us!

We also have a special ACRS event planned for those who missed out on a ticket to the ICRS banquet!

As many of you know, the official banquet sold out quickly with attendance capped at 1000 people, meaning a lot of delegates missed out. Since networking, reconnecting, and meeting new collaborators across all career stages is one of the best parts of ICRS, we wanted to help create another opportunity for reef scientists to come together.

ACRS is thrilled to be collaborating with ICRS to provide an additional social event during ICRS 2026 on the Thursday evening – a relaxed mixer (“a banquet alternative”) designed to give delegates a space to connect, unwind, and enjoy the conference community.

We’ll have:

  • Delicious shared platters to snack on
  • A DJ and dance floor vibes
  • Reef-themed trivia
  • Plenty of time to mingle and meet people
  • Drinks and extra food will be available to purchase

Because ACRS is operating in a non-conference year and doesn’t have its usual conference income stream, we’ll ask attendees for a small registration fee for the night (AUD$20 for ACRS members, AUD$25 for non-members) to help cover appetisers and entertainment costs. Any surplus made from the night will go into our ACRS student travel and research award funds, to help young scientists working on Australian coral reefs.

We have had an overwhelming response to this event and our ACRS at ICRS social mixer is now sold out until further notice! The capacity of the venue is weather dependent so extra tickets may be put on sale the week before ICRS if the weather is looking fine. Please watch our socials and ICRS emails for more information!
